The World Needs You
... so, what are you going to do about it?
“I am not afraid… I was born to do this.” - Joan of Arc
~
Looking around at a concert with tears in my eyes, I realized every other person in the room was captivated by a common force of good. The singer belted melodies straight into my bones - warm milk and sticky honey, blazing fire and cold, cold ice. Humanity on display, textured, raw, tactile - it was good, it was so so good.
Ahhh, beauty.
In the lap of beauty, our soul is seamlessly lifted into a different experience, where truth pierces veils of disruption, distortion, and disconnection.
Beauty, the muse that makes life joyous.
Beauty, our own simple, pure offering in a complex, muddled world.
Beauty, a small, sweet iridescence that mirrors the heavens’ glory.
Singing, painting, writing, sculpting, crafting, gardening, cooking, and dancing all speak of beauty. Art moves, art invites, art inspires. As surely as we yearn to breathe, we yearn to create.
There is an innate calling within us, seemingly woven into our DNA, that knows deep down we are destined to do something meaningful. A warrior’s courage, a mother’s strength, a doctor’s selflessness. If we can find the gumption to peel ourselves out from under the bleak picture on the TV screen and the all-too-loud echoes of shame, we realize, in fact, there is an importance to my existence.
I do have something good to offer. I do have a purpose here.
There is beauty within me that must be shared.
The world needs your beauty offering, my friend.
The best part is - nothing is needed aside from what you already have. Uniquely yours, destined to be shared. I bet you even know what it is, reading these words. It can be tiny, shared with many, or shared with few. It can be edible or printable, scribbled or covered in clay. Piled high with compost, or polished shiny with wax. You know what it is after all, it’s yours (for now) - so, quit hogging it! Without your beauty, one might slip into a dreary place! We need you!
So dive, spelunk, shimmy, peel, sing, dance, harvest, heal, stitch, knit, pour, paint. Weave your beauty into this tapestry until your little fingers shake.
Don’t be mistaken, it’s of vital importance that you do. Do not be scared, do not talk yourself out of it. Listen to the goodness crying out from within you and LET ‘ER RIP
~
God (the creator) created us in His image (perhaps that’s why you’re a creator, too)
Don’t believe the shame - “very good,” He says of you.
The world still needs you and the beauty you have to share.
So, what are you going to do about it?
with love,
Ro

I have fought against being an “artist” for so long. I kept being drawn (😜) to it, but then I would tell myself or be told by the enemy that it was frivolous or self indulgent.
But I love this line…
“The best part is - nothing is needed aside from what you already have. Uniquely yours, destined to be shared.”
God made me, I don’t need to force some other mold if it’s not right.
I’ve been seeing more and more the practical need for the artists. We see things others miss, and it’s our job to show them.
Love everything in this piece. You’ve found words to accurately reflect my thoughts and experiences lately, even down to really witnessing and observing a room full of fellow concert-goers. The beautiful humanity. ❣️❣️
